Out of all the gaming genres, role-playing games have their thrill and excitement which is the main reason why players are attracted to these games. It's pretty much everything I hoped for in a final installment in this series, I look forward to finishing it.Role-playing games are undeniably the favorite game of so many gaming enthusiasts across the world. As before, you hop back and forth between two caravans in different parts of the world, but there's very few small distractions or respite - nearly everything is about immediate survival and seeking to save your people and the world. Familiar characters reappear, new characters are introduced, and many questions are finally answered. You've come to the last days of the Banner Saga's world, it feels like Frodo and Sam in Mordor, it's a race for the end. There's far less of the resource management element that was one of the gameplay's three core concepts (strategic turn-based combat, character-to-character conversations, and Oregon Trail-like resource management on the road), which was a little surprising at first, but also very appropriate. The combat system is expanded slightly, character levels get pushed up one more time to 'finish' them. It slightly leaves you wondering what the last game can do after that, and the answer is mostly: fight an almost constant, hope-against-hopeless battle with the heroes you've brought this far. The second game escalates the story, teases more, and expands the combat system with new environments, enemies, and some surprises. The first game introduces its bleak world and the threats it faces, and teaches you its basic combat system. I haven't finished yet, but so far it's great.īanner Saga is of course a trilogy. So why not procrastinate a little longer and indulge in some viking-inspired mayhem? It's got all the feels, so you can cry your eyes out when something sad happens and then blame it on allergies when someone walks in on you.įinally, because playing The Banner Saga 3 is way more fun than doing your taxes, doing laundry, or any of those other boring adult things you're supposed to be doing.

It's a great way to escape reality for a while and immerse yourself in a world that's even more messed up than our own. It's got some serious replay value, so you can keep coming back to it over and over again and try out different choices to see how they affect the story.

Just make sure not to get too attached to them, because this is a game where anyone can die. The characters are all memorable, so you'll definitely have your favorites and your least favorites. There are tons of tough decisions to make, which means you'll have to use your brain for once instead of just mashing buttons. The soundtrack is absolutely incredible, so you can listen to it while you're pretending to work and make your co-workers think you're actually doing something productive. The graphics are stunning, which means you'll get to see all the gory details of the battles and the beautiful scenery before it gets destroyed. It's the epic conclusion to the trilogy, so if you don't play it, you'll never know how the story ends! Unless, of course, you look it up on Wikipedia, but where's the fun in that?
